Color Guesser

How to play

  1. Start the round: a colour is shown for 5 seconds. Memorise it well.

  2. Then the colour disappears. Recreate it from memory with the three sliders for hue, saturation and brightness.

  3. Press “Check”: the target and your colour appear side by side, with the deviation per slider and your points.

  4. After three colours you see your total score.

How good is your colour memory?

Color Guesser combines colour perception and memory. In our minds, colours often seem more vivid or brighter than they really were – which is why many guesses land just off. The hue is usually quick to find; the subtle differences in saturation and brightness separate good rounds from perfect ones.

Scoring isn't based on the hex code but on the perceived colour difference in the OKLab colour space, so what counts is how similar two colours look to the human eye. The game is great practice for designers, photographers, painters and anyone who wants a better eye for colour.
